His career reflects the evolution of fertility treatment in India—from conventional assisted reproduction to increasingly sophisticated technologies designed to improve fertility preservation, embryo assessment and reproductive outcomes.
A significant part of Dr. Hrishikesh Pai’s contribution has been his early adoption and introduction of advanced reproductive technologies in India. His work has included innovations such as assisted laser hatching, office hysteroscopy, IMSI, vitrification of oocytes and embryos, ovarian tissue freezing, time-lapse embryo imaging, non-invasive embryo testing and the application of artificial intelligence in assessing embryos and oocytes.
Dr. Hrishikesh Pai’s association with advanced embryo monitoring is particularly noteworthy. The Fortis LaFemme centre in Delhi became the first in Asia to install the Embryoscope, a time-lapse incubation system designed to enable continuous monitoring of embryo development and support embryo selection.
